Which glass do you supply? Can you supply tinted glass?

We predominantly supply 10mm Clear Toughened Glass. We can offer tinted & also Laminated glass as well.

Why do you leave a gap between the glasses? And how big is the gap?

We leave a 30mm gap between glass panels for three reasons: 1)No smaller than 30 so fingers/rings do not get trapped 2) Not abutted for expansion and 3) for ease of installation and alingment

What are the glass size sections? How many glasses is each run made from?

For ease of installation and transport we divide the glasses so the largest pane does not exceed 1.2m length.

Can I have a Juliette that goes between the reveals?

Yes, this is not a standard item but can be made. To get further information please contact our sales office regarding this.

What colours can the balustrades or Juliettes be supplied in?

We have four standard colours; White, Silver, Bronze and our unique "Royal Chrome" finish.

We can supply other colours but only on projects that have enough quantity to allow this.

Is anodizing better or worse than stainless steel?

Stainless steel despite its name will tend to tarnish and will usually not live up to the expectations. Anodized aluminium, especially our "Royal Chrome", is far superior in corrosion resistance and longevity and will not require the amount of regular maintenance that stainless steel will.

Is the Balcony balustrade Systems a Structural Glass System?

No, it is not a structural glass balustrade. It is a composite system utilizing both the glass and the Handrail to take the loads. Utilizing the handrail allows the balustrade to span certain lengths without the need for vertical posts. Once these are exceeded we must introduce vertical posts.

By James Developments"Balcony's clear glazing solution ideally suited riverside townhouses where key criteria for us were something light in appearance and it had to be completely 'kiddie-proof', for example, so the balustrading could not be climbed over, nor trap a child's head. Added to which, the system had to be reasonably-priced and fully-finished.

"Installation was simple as all the fixings were supplied to securely bolt it onto the wall. It's a straightforward product for a straightforward situation and it has been well-received by purchasers."

By Mr. J F"We were the first private sale from Balcony, having found the company via the Internet when looking for something different. I would certainly recommend them as the Juliette balcony is an excellent product - it really does add such class to the property we are renovating. We are delighted with it!"

By Mr. N P"As a company, Balcony was great to deal with. I made inquires and ordered online and the Juliette balcony arrived straightaway. As I could not find any Juliette balconies I liked, I was prepared to make one. But I saw the Balcony product online and it was just what I wanted - and not the wrought-iron effect that I thought would have to be the alternative."

By Mr. N G"I was very pleased with the Juliette balcony. Ordering was very easy via the Internet and delivery was on time. I would buy another one."

By Mr. K. W. Williams & Sons"Balcony was very efficient and the Juliette balconies were delivered on time. We had a problem with one of the glass panels, but this was replaced very quickly so it didn't hold up the project. They helped us out very quickly with supplying a replacement. The service element was a key factor as we were working to a tight deadline.

"We're very happy and would certainly use Balcony again. The balconies are ideal, they're stylish and look good. People have commented favourably on them. Being glass, they definitely 'bring the outside in' and create a sense of space."

By Mr. I C "Getting items delivered from England can often be difficult up here, but the service and delivery from Balcony was fine, no problem. Although finding technical information was not easy on the website, all other aspects of dealing with Balcony were excellent.

"We're very happy with the balcony and have had at least three other people come to look at it - one of whom went on to order a balcony. So now there's a second one in this area, not far away from me."

By Mr. R H & Ms. L E"We're very happy with the balcony. Service was fine, we ordered it, had it installed and it looks really nice. We've had lots of complimentary comments and a number of people asking about the balcony."

By Mr. M Y"Service and delivery from Balcony was very good. The installation CD was very useful and informative in showing you all the necessary measurements. Initially I was going to get railings, but then I found the glass balcony, which looked very modern and gave a much better view over the garden and beyond. The result is excellent."

By Mr. S K"I couldn't fault Balcony, they were really good. I ordered a balcony and I got what I needed within a week. I was pleased with the quick turnaround and the website was easy to understand.

"I wanted a glass balcony system so the garden view was not obstructed by the vertical lines of railings."
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mr. C A"It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant! We needed a couple of letters to satisfy Building Regulations and Balcony was really good at dealing with our request. As the majority of the house is glazed, the glass balcony looks really great, as well as being really good value for money!"
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mr. & Mrs. B."Balcony was very helpful and gave us good advice on the system, such as which measurements to take, and sent us a brochure. They also came back to us if we had any queries. We're very pleased with a glass balcony that keeps our views over a very colourful garden - railings would have spoilt the view."
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mr. & Mrs. H "We found Balcony on the Internet and ordered the Juliette balcony, which arrived when they said it would. Everything was fine and installation by our builder was very straightforward. We had no problems at all.

"We get a considerable amount of pleasure viewing the sea in its many changes of mood through the patio doors with the balcony in place for safety, yet not restricting the view. They have brought a rather boring 1950/60 house a little bit more up to date as well."
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mr. & Mrs. E"We particularly wanted glass to let in more light and to have a clear view to the outside. It's really good, looks modern and contemporary with a white handrail, and we're very pleased.

"We installed it ourselves in an afternoon and we'd recommend the system to others."
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mr. & Mrs. C"Installing it myself was very easy, a 'piece of cake'! We didn't want bars as they would spoil the view over the countryside, so a glass balcony fits the bill. We're delighted!"
rating starrating starrating starrating starrating star, 15 Dec 2007
By Mrs. C"I wanted to keep the views over the countryside, so a glass balcony is the ideal solution. It looks very nice; I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend it."

By Mr. & Mrs. P<strong>"The glass Juliette balcony is the answer for us. It's unobtrusive and keeping the rural country views were very important. Installation by a local builder was straightforward and the result is lovely. With no maintenance to worry about, and as our home is located near to the Pembrokeshire coast, the glass and aluminium corrosion-resistant design is perfect for a coastal environment."</strong>

You may ask what is a Juliet or Juliette balcony?

Basically defined as a guard rail or balustrade that protects a full height opening where a protection from fall is required. This is not a balcony as such in that you cannot step out onto it but only stand in the opening and lean on it. Sometimes also called a false balcony.

The name “Juliet” or “Juliette” Balcony has become a trade term coined from the famous scene in Verona from Shakespeare’s play Romeo & Juliet

Why Balcony Systems Juliet Balconies?

  1. These juliet balconies are easy to fit
  2. They are unobtrusive, unlike the stainless steel or wrought iron kind that have big glass clamps, stainless steel rods or ugly screws fittings that hold the glass.
  3. Our juliet balconies achieve a look of just clean glass, no vertical posts!
  4. No "cage" like appearance, or metal mesh ugliness
  5. These balconies are Maintenance free and suitable for the most corrosive marine or coastal locations. Unlike 304 stainless steel handrails, or welds on stainless steel balconies that tarnish and rust.
  6. Fully building regulations compliant, with both load tests and structural calculations to back this up.
