‘A 10-year guarantee against corrosion is a no-brainer by the sea’

For Cornwall-based balustrading installer Alan Snowden, the superior corrosion-resistance of Balconette’s products makes using them in a coastal environment a ‘no-brainer’, as this stunning example shows.

One of Balconette’s Registered Partners, he installed this eye-catching 30-metre-long tinted glass balustrade on the expansive sun terrace of a new contemporary four-bedroomed bungalow in Praa Sands, Cornwall.

It took just two days to install Balconette’s Orbit System Glass Balustrade with grey tinted glass panels and a round handrail in the classic Royal Chrome anodised finish. A matching Privacy Screen was also specified to prevent a neighbouring home from being overlooked.

Despite a slight issue with the wrong-sized privacy screen, which Balconette quickly resolved, the installation went smoothly, and Alan says the system was easy and straightforward to fit.

Drawing on his Formula 1 motor racing background, Alan’s knowledge of anodised products proved very useful when he moved to Cornwall and was approached to do some balustrading work.

“I did some research and saw that Balconette’s products come with a ten-year corrosion-resistance guarantee. In this saltwater environment, I thought it was a ‘no-brainer’ really, and so I started using Balconette’s products for that reason,” he explains.

The high-specification property with extensive sea views was built by local developer Oakland Homes for whom Alan has completed a number of balustrading installations using Balconette’s systems in recent years.

On the final result, Alan concludes: “I think the Balconette balustrade makes a modern building look a lot classier. The Royal Chrome finish is a bit more subtle and toned down than a ‘mirror finish’ stainless steel. The system’s great and I shall continue to install it.”
