‘Our Balconette frameless Juliet balcony enables a clear view of the bay and the town’

Extending upwards into the loft of their bungalow has created new living space for a Dorset couple with spectacular seaside views perfectly preserved by a Balconette Frameless Juliet balcony.
“The lovely view was the reason for going up into the loft to capture that view,” says the homeowner. “Obviously, we wanted a big open window, and we needed a Juliet balcony as a safety barrier. We wanted a complete clear piece of glass without any interference from horizontal metal rails. Balconette certainly offered that; I’m not sure many other companies did.
“It also needed to fit the aperture and we had quite a big gap to fill. Again, Balconette offered quite a variety of sizes, one of which suited us just right. It all worked out very well.”
The 2,840mm-wide Frameless Juliet protects floor-to-ceiling sliding doors in a new first-floor lounge in their Swanage home. The six-month refurbishment project also added a master bedroom and bathroom.
“We bought the rather shabby bungalow because of the views which we could see from a raised terrace in the garden. Then we realised we could enjoy the same view by going up into the loft,” he continues.
Having found Balconette via an internet search, he says his window installer, Island Home Improvements, also recommended the company as he’d previously used their products.
Installation of the Frameless Juliet balcony took around three hours, however getting it to site was a ‘bit of a project in itself’. “It was very heavy, and it took six people to lift it off the lorry and take it to the back garden where it was lifted into place. Once it was up there, it only took around 15 minutes to fit.”
On the finished result, the couple are delighted with the Frameless Juliet Balcony appearance and how it enhances their far-reaching views, adding: “Obviously it’s functional, but it just enables a clear view of the bay and the town. It makes the property look very modern.
“The whole thrust of the dormers is quite big, but that’s what we needed to take advantage of the view from all three rooms on that side.”
